Accroding to the legend, once when some local cheiftains went to witness the annual festivals at the Koyapallikarazhma bhagavathi temple, they were humiliated and ridiculed by the Koyapalli karazhma temple authorities.Thus they thought of constructing a temple at Chettikulangara.
